In my eyes Joan never got old, she was always the same girl that I met at Great Yarmouth 72 years ago. I loved her petite stature, although she disagreed with me on that subject. Joan always wanted to be taller and could never understand why I loved her as she was. In her small body was a very large kindly heart. A great wife and mother to our two children, Jenny and David. When they had both left home to make their own way in life, her worries about them never ceased. When we were blessed with two Grandchildren, Neil and Emma and subsequently Great grandchildren, Henry, Bethia and Rupert, Joan was so proud that she carried their photographs in her handbag. In spite of the ravages of rheumatoid arthritis and the dreadful pain that it brings, Joan never gave in to the disease, always determined to beat it. Just as she also tried so hard to get better during the past few months. Our Joan is at last free from pain after 50 years of suffering, and may her God bless her and grant her eternal peace
